Biography
This late 60s British pop quintet, which took its name (respelled) from Thackeray's famous novel, comprised: Dick Allix (3 May 1945, Gravesend, Kent, England; drums), Trevor Brice (b. 12 February 1945, Rochester, Kent, England; vocals), Tony Goulden (b. 21 November 1944, Rochester, Kent, England; guitar), Tony Jarrett (b. 4 September 1944; double bass and guitar) and Barry Landeman (b. 25 October 1947, Woodbridge, Suffolk, England; keyboards). Managed by Roger Easterby and signed to Larry Page's Page One label, the clean-cut Vanity Fare hit the UK Top 20 in the summer of 1968 with the appropriately titled "I Live For The Sun". It was almost a year and another summer before they returned to the charts with "Early In The Morning", this time abandoning their suits in favour of neckerchiefs and Carnaby Street garb.
